Explore Lincoln City beaches
Six blocks away are magnificent ocean beaches where you can run, explore tidal pools, build a sand castle, fly a kite and be a kid again.
Hiking
Area hiking trails are magnificent and beautifully maintained. To our delight we discovered a lush meadow with rare protected butterflies when we reached the top of Cascade Head. The views are incredible and a memory for a lifetime.
Lake Fun
Dotted along the coast, often within sight of the ocean, are pristine fresh water lakes that beckon fishermen, water skiers, swimmers and boaters. Devils Lake is only minutes from the Captain Cook Inn.
Chinook Winds Casino
One mile away is the popular Chinook Winds Casino that headlines big-name celebrities. Chinook Winds even has a Shuttle that will pick you up and drop you off from the Captain Cook Inn.
Movies
Lincoln City has two movie theaters. The Coming Attractions Six screen, with stadium style seating, is located six miles South of the Captain Cook Inn. The historic Bijou Theatre, with the best popcorn on the coast, is located one mile south of the Captain Cook Inn.
Glass Blowing
Located in the newly renovated historic Taft district of Lincoln City is the Lincoln City Glass Center. The foundry offers free glassblowing demonstrations where for a fee you can blow your own glass float art piece.
Golfing
Two miles North of the Captain Cook Inn is the lush 18-hole Chinook Winds Golf Resort. Ten miles South is a nationally known favorite, Salishan Golf Links.
Surfing
Surfs always up in Lincoln City! Lincoln City has surf shops where you can buy or rent surf gear and accessories. We are home to 7 miles of pristine beaches with several real good surf spots. Lincoln City is now home to the annual Behemoth Nelscott Reef Big Wave Classic.
Depoe Bay 15 miles south of Lincoln City is charming Depoe Bay, “the whale watching capitol of the Oregon Coast,” where you can take a boat out deep sea fishing or whale watching.
Skate Park The Captain Cook Inn is located within skating distance from “The Gnarliest Skate park in America” (Thrasher Magazine Dec. 1999). The park has three bowls including a one of a kind “Cradle”… It has to be seen to be believed!
Great Restaurants Lincoln City is home to some truly magnificent dining experiences, from Thai cuisine to the freshest seafood the Oregon coast has to offer. Among these the Blackfish Cafe is located directly across the street from the Captain Cook Inn.
Antiquing “Antiquing” is very popular in Lincoln City. Lincoln City hosts a multitude of unique shopping experiences. A very short distance from the Captain Cook Inn is the wonderful Little Antique Mall.
Art Galleries Are you into Art? Lincoln City is home to several Art Galleries with fabulous pieces of various kinds of art (i.e. paintings, photography, graphics, sculptures, etc.).
Newport Aquarium The Aquarium in Newport, 26 miles south of Lincoln City, is a must-see for tourists. Observe and take pictures of the various variety of sea life germane to the Oregon Coast.
Crabbing Some of the best crabbing in all of the Country is done right off the Central Oregon Coast…. It’s fun and it’s easy, and the crab tastes wonderful. You can get charters for both crabbing and deep sea fishing here.
Whale Watching Whale watching is a fun activity for the whole family. Book a space on one of several Charter Services available in Newport or Depoe Bay and then sit back and watch as the chartered boat goes out amongst the whale that pass up and down the Central Oregon Coast during the migration season.
